Island Sweet Skunk (aka Sweet Island Skunk) emits a sweet citrus odor with a skunky undertone. It bears deep green leaves that lighten towards the edges and golden yellow or orange hairs wrapped around the calyxes on female plants.
It was initially bred and cultivated on Vancouver Island in Canada and descends from Skunk #1. However, Skunk #1 was reproduced with an unknown sativa which is how Island Sweet Skunk came to be. It won placement in the High Times Top 10 Canadian Strains of All Time in 2013 but was a cross between the strains Skunk #1 and Sweet Pink Grapefruit.
Island Sweet Skunk’s THC level averages at 14.5% but some harvests of the strain have tested to be as potent as 20%. It’s CBD level is between a low of .01-.1%.
This strain is an excellent choice for daytime use, uplifting one’s spirits and creating an energetic feel. The most common adverse side-effects are dry mouth and an anxious feeling – which can be moderated by proper quantity consumption.
Island Sweet Skunk grows and is ready for harvest between eight and nine weeks. Its tall height makes it ideal for growing outside or in greenhouses rather than indoors.
