Clubs, Bars, Cafés & Cuisine: Endless Cannabis Prospective
22 inspiring ways to branch into the cannabusiness market.
Like any new market being introduced into an economy, the potential is vast, making this the opportune time to get started on that cannabusiness idea that’s been consuming your thoughts. Or, if you’d rather expand your knowledge of where to invest, take a look at the potential cannabis has to offer to the entrepreneurs and job-seekers in the United States.
I’ve divided the ideas into 4 groups of potential: The Public Scene, Behind-the-Scenes, In-Store Products, and No Touchy! The last is for those of us that aren’t thrilled with interacting with cannabis itself. Just remember the old saying, “When there’s a gold rush, it’s good to be in the pick and shovel industry”.
Cannabis in the Public Scene
Legalities to consume in public places still must be faced to pursue these business concepts, but it’s the perfect time to begin planning and grabbing licenses if the state you live in supports it. The following are ideas for those of us that enjoy interacting with people, serving them, and creating a fun-filled environment.
1. Bars & Hookah Houses
Heard of oxygen bars or hookah houses? Imagine cannabis bars and cannabis houses. People will want a variety of environments concerning a public place like this – from Persian décor to sports décor, a loud & energetic scene to a calm and relaxing one… To open up one of these businesses is to indulge in personal taste while sharing it with other consumers.
A bowling alley where consuming cannabis is okay while striking your friends out? This sounds like good times, especially if the bowling alley has “Midnight Bowling”. Very psychedelic… And a great place to start selling cannabis-infused alcohol.
We’ve all seen them: the people that fill coffee houses like Starbucks or Caribou Café and spend their whole day drinking caffeine and either writing or reading. Why not offer them some cannabis to get their creativity in top gear? Smoke it, drink, eat it – a cannabis café could possibly offer all three. Not to mention, I know a plethora of people that like to consume caffeine while consuming cannabis since many strains tend to create drowsiness.
For a select few of us, casinos are a big thing where we live. Nevada has Las Vegas, Colorado has Blackhawk – almost every state has its own little gambling get-away. Wouldn’t it be great to smoke a blunt while playing poker and having your favorite brew next to you? Granted, I’m unsure whether it’s a good idea or not to gamble while high or stoned on cannabis…

Dance clubs, comedy clubs, country clubs, sports clubs, hobby clubs, service clubs, social activities clubs, even strip clubs… All of these can be founded with the underlying detail that cannabis is consumed by its members or sold at their locations. How many people would want to buy a membership your nightclub? How much would a VIP table (with the purchase of a bottle of cannabis-infused alcohol) cost?
Sure, there already are dispensaries around, but each has its own personality and own strains that they sell. You can still cash in on having a dispensary, especially if you grow your own cannabis, already know others that need to sell theirs, or know artists that want to sell their handmade pipes and bongs.

Imagine a hotel that allows cannabis consumption within its rooms and sells infused drinks downstairs at its bar… the perfect getaway – and perfect for any tourist town.

A plethora of people love watching movies while stoned, so a movie theater that allows cannabis consumption sounds like an extremely worthwhile business – both for the consumers and for the founders. It’ll just need a great ventilation system. Maybe a VIP theater that hot-boxes (is that a bad idea?) Or better yet, a drive-in movie theater! Bring them back!
9. Party Buses & Limo Services
Recently I had the privilege of sharing a party bus with friends in celebration of my sister-in-law’s college graduation. There were drinks and blunts and bowls, oh my! But to have a business that actually, legally, allows consuming on its moving property (it was a privately-owned party bus, mind you) and perhaps even offers to supply cannabis is a new and great opportunity ready to be snatched up by entrepreneurs.
This is a biggie. For anyone that’s enjoyed a well-cooked/baked edible, they know that the effects are far better than simply smoking it. You could have an infused Thai restaurant, Italian, Greek, American – the possibilities are countless. Even little food trucks with infused products would be extremely profitable.
11. Yoga & Fitness Centers
If you haven’t consumed a great hybrid strain that gets your body moving while simultaneously relaxing it, then find one. Why? Because physical activities are not only seemingly less difficult to accomplish, the body wants to do them, as if it’s a tightly wound screw ready to finally spin loose. Unfortunately, physical activities are better when done with friends or in classes – which brings us to yoga and fitness centers that allow consuming cannabis. Perhaps people would love to take a class that includes drinking a vitality shake infused with greens and cannabis a half hour before their class begins… So many possibilities for this one…

You may not mind interacting with cannabis, but serving people might not be your stronghold. Instead, sell to those that do!
12. Baking & Cooking Supplies
As edibles become more and more popularized as their fantastical effects are recognized, both businesses and your average consumer are going to need supplies for cooking/baking cannabis. Not to mention some of us want decarbed cannabis or already-infused ingredients such as CannaHoney or Infused Olive Oil.
13. Farms & Greenhouses
Have a green thumb? Starting a farm or greenhouse that grows cannabis is an extremely profitable business right now. All the businesses listed above will need you, and the market has only been growing. The farms & greenhouses already established sell their cannabis before it’s even ready for harvest!
14. Lab Testing
Consumers like to know what they’re buying, so THC and CBD levels need to be tested for every crop of cannabis sold on the legal market (numbers need to be put on the labels). Not to mention, tested for pesticides and all the other potentially harmful stuff that can be found on plants. More and more lab testing facilities will be needed as the market grows…

15. Marketing & Social Media
Promoting cannabis by various marketing means and on social media isn’t for everyone – but those that are talented enough to know how to grasp the attention of the public for promotional reasons can surely find cannabis businesses that need them!
Pipes, bongs, bubblers, vaporizers, pens, dab rigs, hookahs, screens, grinders, papers – the list goes on when it comes to the many products that cannabis needs in order to be consumed. People that carve and whittle can most definitely sell their handmade supplies. It’d be easy to start an online bazaar…
17. Photography & Artwork
Creative photos of cannabis plants, farms, buds, nugs, and dispensaries are in high demand as businesses seek to grow their online platforms. One of the dispensaries in Colorado I’m familiar with has specialized artwork on their walls displaying how pretty both cannabis and Colorado scenery can be. Artwork and photography are also key ingredients for promotional purposes, and every business needs to promote!
18. Alternative Supplies
Lotions, topical pain relievers, even suppositories all need to be made by new businesses before a monopoly arises! Cannabis/hemp all-natural cosmetics? Cleaning supplies? Metals and fabrics?
Keeping Distance from Cannabis
If you’re unsure whether or not you want to pursue making money in a market that hasn’t yet been approved by the federal government, there’s still ways to cash in. Granted, these jobs still depend upon the cannabis market, but you won’t have to come anywhere near the plant itself if you choose not to.
19. Farming Supplies
The pick and shovel to this gold rush! Every great cannabis farm or greenhouse needs its supplies. Fertilizer, hydroponics materials, lighting, pots, nutrient-rich soil, etc.
20. Packaging & Labels
Without proper packaging and labeling, cannabis can’t be sold legally! I know of three different dispensaries that package and label their products in three entirely different ways.
The first thing people do when they decide to consume cannabis is look up where to purchase it online. Websites play a vital role in selling product, and a great website will need great web designers.
Reading material is needed for every great website, some that entertains and some that informs. Now, writers are needed more than ever to help cannabis businesses build their online platform. However, some writers are also investigators and though this is listed under the “no-touchy” section, some writers may in fact come in contact with or find themselves within the vicinity of cannabis to do interviews or a specialized article.
