Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a premier international one-make racing series, organized by Lamborghini's motorsport division, Squadra Corse. Launched in 2009, the series has grown to encompass regional championships in Europe, Asia, and North America, culminating annually in the Lamborghini World Finals. This series offers both professional and amateur drivers the opportunity to compete in identical Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 race cars, ensuring a focus on driver skill and team strategy.
Origins and Global Expansion
The Super Trofeo series began in Europe in 2009, initially featuring the Gallardo LP 560-4 Super Trofeo. Recognizing the series' success, Lamborghini expanded to Asia in 2012 and North America in 2013. Each regional championship consists of six double-header rounds, with each race lasting 50 minutes. The season concludes with the Lamborghini World Finals, where competitors from all regions vie for the global title.
Central to the series is the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2, a race car developed specifically for the championship. Powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine producing 620 CV, the Evo2 features advanced aerodynamics and a lightweight carbon fiber body. Its design emphasizes both performance and safety, making it an ideal platform for drivers aspiring to progress in GT racing.
Each Super Trofeo event includes practice sessions, qualifying, and two 50-minute races.
Drivers are categorized into four classes:
- Pro: Professional drivers with significant racing experience.
- Pro-Am: Teams comprising one professional and one amateur driver.
- Am: Amateur drivers with limited racing backgrounds.
- Lamborghini Cup (LB Cup): Novice drivers new to competitive racing.
This structure promotes competitive balance and allows drivers of varying skill levels to participate meaningfully.
